FAQ

I was a registered member here before the site changes. Will you be creating a membership in this new site design?

We do not have any immediate plans for a membership role within our new website layout. It is a possibility that future enhancements may include further involvement. For more on the update please view the DeerFever Update posted on June 27 2008.

I cannot find the deer hunting products that were once available before the update. Are those going to be available again?

We will definately be bringing back the product pages. We are rebuilding in two phases with the first being the information sections. The second phase will begin with developing the product pages. See post above for more information.

I notice that comments are closed for all of the articles and news items. Will these be opened for comment in the future?

Undecided at the moment. The added option to comment would fall under the requirement of either a registered member feature or an open commentary forum. Open commentary requires a lot of added attention to monitor comments otherwise known as content spam. We would rather use our time constructively than babysitting the comment areas and removing all the undesirable postings. If we open the comment area for interaction we would require registration. As noted, we do not have immediate plans for a membership registration.

What’s the deal with the Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down icons at the end of the hunting articles?

Those are for rating articles. Anyone can rate an article by giving it a Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down. Ratings are calculated automatically and tallied to show the top 5 rated articles in the Top rated Articles menu found near the lower left of all pages.

What is the Share This link for at the end of the articles?

The Share This icon and link allow readers to share a specific article with their friends or generally others who may be interested. There are a number of the most popular social networking websites including in the options as well as the ability to simply email a notice to a friend. The email will contain a brief message created by you and the link back to the article or news item.

What is the RSS Subscribe all about?

If you have to ask you probably do not have the ability to subscribe to the feed in your browser. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication which can be used in several ways. A browser equipped to read and deliver rss feeds would allow you to subscribe to the feed which would alert you each time we update. Other websites that can import the information can also use our latest headlines on their website using the RSS feature. If you would like to be alerted of new additions such as deer hunting news, new deer hunting articles, and general information, and do not have the RSS ability, we also offer an email subscription. You can register to have our news delivered by email courtesy of FeedBurner.

I noticed you have a submitted articles section for your articles category. Can I submit an article to be included?

Sure. Send us an email through our contact page and we will generate the appropriate conversation channel for sending material. Before sending you will need to agree to the terms included for submissions which will state that the article is your own property. You can read more about copyright materials within DeerFever by visiting our copyright page. Obviously your article must target our audience of deer hunting.
